Quality 80–85 is the practical sweet spot for AVIF and WebP. Below 70 you will begin to see banding on detailed photographs.
For screenshots with text or sharp edges, prefer PNG or WebP lossless. JPG will smear the type.
What we won't do.
Upload your files.
There is no server. The conversion happens in your CPU, inside the tab. Open DevTools, watch Network — zero requests.
Ask for an email.
No account. No newsletter pop-up. No watermark to remove with a subscription.
Limit you.
Convert one file or two hundred. No daily quota. No file-size ceiling beyond what your browser can hold in memory.
Slow you down.
Local CPU is faster than any upload. The slowest part of most online converters is the upload bar.
Reuse your data.
Even if we wanted to train models on your photos, we couldn't — we never see them. The plumbing makes it physically impossible.
Lock you in.
Eleven formats in, five formats out. Take your files and run.
Every conversion, cataloged.
Letters to the editor.
Q.01Are my images really private?+
Yes. Pixelmint never uploads your files. Conversion happens in your browser using the Canvas API and never leaves the tab. You can verify this in DevTools → Network: zero requests during conversion.
Q.02Which formats are supported?+
Inputs: PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, SVG, ICO, TIFF, HEIC. Outputs: PNG, JPG, WebP. Output coverage grows as browser encoder support improves.
Q.03Is there a batch mode?+
Yes — drop multiple files at once. Each is converted in parallel and downloaded one by one.
Q.04Does this work offline?+
After the first visit, yes. The app is a static site, so once it's cached you can convert images with no internet connection at all.
Q.05How does Pixelmint compare to other converters?+
Most online converters upload your files to a server, run server-side ImageMagick, and email you a link or show ads on the result page. Pixelmint runs the same conversion locally — faster, more private, and free forever.
